Even more before- and after-school activities are being added for the last Term of 2019. There are now 20 separate group activities throughout the week for students to be involved in, and specifically catering to the needs of lower- and upper-primary students alike.
After conducting parent surveys, the P&C is adding two Yoga Magic classes and the NRL League Stars program to its weekly schedule.
Yoga Magic
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 83% of respondents for Yoga saying they are possibly to very likely to register. Over 60% of responses indicated that their children already have an interest in the activity.
Because of the differing interests and developmental stages of the children, classes will be broken in to two offerings. Years K-2 will be able to enjoy an introduction via games that utilise all of Yoga’s animal themes and positions. While the upper-primary students will be able to focus more on developing their skills and achievements.
Classes are offered by Double Bay parent and experienced Yoga master, Collette Potter.
NRL League Stars
Also attracting a overwhelmingly positive support in our parent survey, the P&C is extending the BASA program with another sports-based activity. The NSW Rugby League’s junior ‘League Stars’ program contains three-stages that focus on learning the basics, building a safe foundation and applying these skills in a range of non-contact, small-sided league-style games. It’s about building confidence, motivation and having fun.
This program will be lead by two qualified trainers and also offered in two streams for Years K-2 and Years 3-6.
